Davao del Norte Governor Edwin I. Jubahib expressed his gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for granting cash assistance of P77 million intended for the rice subsidy of Dabaonon families.

“We are grateful to President BBM for the timely help, especially now that our constituents are heavily impacted by the current oil crisis,” Jubahib said, during the 1st Quarterly Meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) on Monday, March 23, 2026.

The governor said the provincial government would primarily use the funds in helping those who were affected by recent calamities in the province.

The rest will be allotted to every Dabaonon home that has since been reeling from the sharp spike in fuel prices and supply disruptions resulting from the energy crisis brought about by the tension in the Middle East.

Jubahib hailed the government’s unwavering commitment to help the Filipino people recover in times of calamities, as “reassuring”, especially as emergency situations disproportionately affect the poor constituents.

The governor asked the local government units and agencies to implement austerity measures and store fuel to have enough reserve, as the Middle East conflict created a severe threat of supply disruption.

He said the LGUs cannot afford to stall the delivery of government services, particularly during emergencies.

The Council also approved a resolution reconstituting the Provincial Price Coordinating Council (PPCC), in order to protect the consumers and stabilize prices and ensure an adequate supply of basic necessities and prime commodities, particularly during calamities.

“May we weather this storm with unity, strength, and compassion,” he said.
